Call Name: Jay Breed: Border Collie Handler: Liz Gallian DOB: 11/24/03 (est) Titles: N/A Best Time: N/A Achievements: Additional Information: “Throw it, throw it, THROW IT !!!!” Nicknames: Jayden, Birdie, Skinny Naked Boy, “Sticks” McGallian Favorite food: ice cream, wasabi peas, and a big bowl of yummy kibble. Favorite activities, any activity that involves throwing something, ANYTHING; playing Frisbee and chuck-it, wrestling with Dad, going to the dog park, chasing kitties, playing with the garden hose or shower, and watching TV – especially “Meerkat Manor”. Pet Peeves: being told to “go lie down”; having to live with many irrational fears: rain, loud noises, crackling speakers, trash bags, goats, flocks of birds, large mouth fish, sneezes, flyswatters, feet, and Dad yelling at sports on TV. Best Friend: Cricket Most embarrassing moment: being mistaken for a “sexy little thang” by other male dogs. Little known talents: Jay has memorized EVERY TV commercial that has a dog or a cat, and runs to the TV on the very first few notes of the jingle. Scary. He also self-pacifies by *suckling* on his stuffed sheep. Hmmm. Mom’s point of view: Jay spent the first few months of his life running the streets with a badly shattered leg. Thanks to CBCR and some very kind doctors, he was rescued and avoided amputation, and can now run and play on all four lanky legs! He started training in flyball, but it quickly became evident that his legs could not handle the constant impact. A life of chronic pain is too high a price to pay for just playing a game; hence, I made the decision to pull him from flyball and just let him be a dog, and a Blockade Runner Cheerleader! Apart from the occasional slight limp, you’d never know that his back leg is held together with pins! He is a typical happy, quirky Border Collie, and often referred to as “The coolest dog I’ve ever met” by those who come to know him. He is very friendly, would never hurt a fly, and just wants everyone to be happy – a little angel in a big, awkward body! Definitely a Daddy’s boy, he makes us smile everyday, and we are so proud to be his humans!
